A. O. Smith announces the
offering of an addition to its expanding line of variable speed motors and
fan systems.
Using proprietary electronically commutated (EC) technology, the initial
offering will be 60 to 220 watt designs in an industry-standard 92mm form
factor to IP44. Notable features include high efficiency for reduced energy
consumption, low temperature rise promoting long life and industry-leading
performance for noise and vibration.
Matched controllers provide over-temperature and over-current protection
with standard 0-10 Volts / PWM / serial communication / tacho out facilities.
Depending on the fan or blower used, the cubic feet per minute (CFM) delivered
at four-pole speeds is in the 200 to 3000 CFM range.
The product line is well-suited for air moving applications where low
noise and high efficiency are at a premium, or precise control of air
volumes is required to maintain comfort levels. Residential and commercial
ventilation (including heat recovery) and extraction systems are two target
markets.
Samples are available now with select customers and volume production
is scheduled for 2005 at various A. O. Smith global manufacturing locations
in Asia, Europe and North America.
Customers will benefit from the logistical support of A. O. Smith’s
global supply and the company's strategic commitment to offer products
and features to the air-moving and HAC marketplace.
"This addition to our variable speed product offering enhances our
ability to be a 'one source' solution to our customers," Chris Ruttle,
global vice president-sales & marketing for A. O. Smith Electrical
Products Company, observed. "This is a fully integrated solution,
featuring motor, software, and control that provide the performance our
customers seek."
"Efficiency and quiet operation are two of the most important trends
in the HAC market today, and we believe these new motors will help customers
address these critical performance needs," Ruttle continued.
