 A. O. Smith Electrical Products names vice president of information technology

February 27, 2002 - Milwaukee, Wis.— A. O. Smith Electrical Products Company has appointed Fred Davidson vice president-information technology.

In his new position, Davidson will be responsible for technical support services, systems analysis, programming, networks, communications, and systems operations for the manufacturer of electric motors.

"Fred Davidson will play a key part in helping to develop and implement our strategy to improve information systems and technology to better serve our customers as well as the company's global operations," Donald Heinrich, president of Electrical Products Company, said in making the announcement.

Davidson brings more than 35 years of experience in information technology to A. O. Smith. Most recently, he served as vice president, global technology and infrastructure at NCR Corporation, Dayton, Ohio.

Before joining NCR, Davidson worked from 1968 until 1997 with AT&T where he held increasingly responsible positions, eventually becoming vice president for global information solutions. Prior to joining AT&T, he held the position of chief information officer for Copeland Corporation in Sydney, Ohio.

Davidson attended Miami University of Ohio, in Oxford, Ohio. He is a charter member of the AT&T IT Foundation Architecture Council and also a member of the CIO Conference Board.
