A.O. Smith Introduces C-Frame Combustion Blower Package for Mid-Efficiency Gas Furnaces At AHR Expo 2001

January 29, 2001 - Tipp City, Ohio – A.O. Smith Electrical Products Company, a leading manufacturer of electric motors for HVAC/R applications, has expanded its broad line of stock draft-induced and centrifugal blower packages to include an A. O. Smith-UPPCO C-Frame design for use with 80 percent-plus efficiency furnace models.

The new design for new or existing residential and commercial furnaces is making its debut at A.O. Smith’s booth 4230, during the AHR Expo 2001, which is held in Atlanta, Ga. Jan. 29 through Jan. 31.

The newest A.O. Smith draft-induced blower package is a single-coil, two-pole shaded-pole model engineered and built to deliver reliable performance in a value-conscious C-frame design. The compact, 40 milli-horsepower motor is available in single-or multi-speed designs and voltages from 120 to 240 and is rated for static pressures up to 2.2 inches of water and free-air delivery volumes up to 90 cubic feet per minute (CFM). High-temperature ball bearings enable the motor to handle hot air up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.

The motor is UL-recognized and CSA-certified and also can be used in water heater and power burner applications.

The new A. O. Smith-UPPCO C-Frame draft-induced blower package is among a complete line of over 100 stock centrifugal blower packages offered for direct OEM applications and general replacements in furnace, water heater and other applications requiring controlled air movement. With models ranging from 55 CFM to 1210 CFM, the line has been developed for maximum flexibility in meeting diverse application requirements. It includes blowers with either permanent split capacitor or shaded pole electrical designs and using either sleeve or ball bearings.

A.O. Smith Electrical Products Company, based in Tipp City, Ohio, is A.O. Smith Corporation's largest operating unit, with 2000 sales of $884 million. It manufactures a comprehensive line of hermetic and subfractional, fractional, and integral horsepower AC and DC electric motors used in a wide array of consumer, commercial, and industrial products.
