A.O. Smith Unveils New Value-Plus Jetted Tub Motor at NSPI 2000

November 8, 2000 - New 48-frame permanent split capacitor jetted tub motor meets market demands for maximum reliability and value.

Tipp City, Ohio – At NSPI 2000, held in Orlando, Fla., November 8 through November 10, A.O. Smith is unveiling its new high-value 48 frame permanent split capacitor (PSC) pump motor for jetted tub applications.

The new single-compartment jetted tub motor features an air switch and pre-installed power cord for easy OEM mounting. A.O. Smith also uses sleeve bearings on both ends of the new motor for maximum value and low audible noise.

Extensive testing shows that the new jetted tub motor far exceeds customer expectations for motor life: Customers set a design guideline of 1000 hours, and A.O. Smith more than tripled that number to beyond 3,000 hours.

"As the leading U.S. manufacturer of motors for jetted tub applications, A.O. Smith constantly seeks to improve motor value for its customers," said Mike Metzler, A.O. Smith Electrical Products Company marketing manager for pump motors. "Our new 48-frame jetted tub motor design meets the highest demands for maximum value and reliability."

The new jetted tub motor is available in one-third horsepower, one-half horsepower or three-quarters horsepower versions and is available with shaft heights of three inches or three and one-half inches to meet virtually all jetted tub pump specifications.

A.O. Smith’s permanent split capacitor motors also are suitable for use with electronic variable speed controllers.
