Tipp City, Ohio A.O. Smith Electrical Products Company, a leading manufacturer of electric motors for diverse residential, commercial, and industrial applications, is unveiling its newest Speed EngineeredÒ motor line, Speed-Plus, at the 2000 EASA convention, April 2-5 in Anaheim, Calif. Speed Engineered® to ensure they are corona-free for compatible inverter duty, Speed-Plus motors boast the widest speed range now available in the industry, making the motors easily adaptable to meet a variety of requirements. Motor speeds range from 20:1 at constant torque, standard; to 1000:1 at constant torque with the addition of a blower kit. A.O. Smith designed its new Speed-Plus motor for high adaptability to address more particular process specifications. The motors feature provisions for mounting a wide range of encoders, 120-volt A/C blower kits, drive end C-Face, drive end D-Flange, and brake kits. Motors also are field convertible to F-2 conduit box location A number of standard features also enhance operational flexibility and dependability. These features include totally enclosed severe duty design, all cast-iron construction, VPI corona-free Class F insulation system, F-1 mounted conduit box and normally closed thermostats. A.O. Smith Speed-Plus motors are specifically designed for elevator, crane/hoist, extruder, and machine tool applications. They are also a good match for material and air moving processes requiring a compatible motor and drive, such as ventilation, pump or conveyor applications. "The motors are designed, built and tested to be 100 percent drive compatible," said Ben Holt, product specialist for A.O. Smith Electrical Products Company. "They meet or exceed current NEMA MG 31 specifications and meet EPACT efficiency levels by utilizing low-loss electrical steel and optimized winding configurations." A.O. Smith stocks a variety of motors available for immediate shipment from its Regional Distribution Centers throughout the U.S. and centers in Canada and Asia. Large orders and orders requiring standard modifications to "off-the-shelf" products also can be quickly filled from the companys Central Distribution Center in Lavergene, Tenn. A.O.
